13.02.2017The delegation of Krasnoyarsk volunteers came back from the World Winter Student Games in Almaty
From January 28th to February 8th the capital of Kazakhstan Almaty hosted the 28th World Winter Universiade 2017. About 3 thousand volunteers, including 100 international volunteers from different countries, assisted in organizing the Universiade. There were volunteers from Russia, Italy, Spain, Malaysia, Ukraine, South Korea, Japan and others.
Every volunteer had gone through a competitive selection, interview and team training, which determined their functional area. During 3 Weeks 29 of our townsmen lived and worked in a special, Universiade, mode. Our young men and women worked in different groups like linguists group and "arrival-departure of the guests", worked with the audience, accompanied the athletes teams, prepared trails for competition and accomplished many other tasks.

"I worked at the press center of "Halyk arena", where all the hockey competitions were held. During 2 weeks of the Universiade I have watched 15 hockey games. My task was to monitor the quality of interpreting of the press conferences after the matches. It was incredibly interesting to see a world sports even from the inside. Besides work, at the weekends we went to the Universiade venues, had time to see the city, went to the highest mountain skating rink "Medeo" and went hiking into the mountains up to 3200 meters. What we also liked were the city people - they are really hospitable", shared her impressions of the Games a volunteer student from Krasnoyarsk Daria Shakhtarina.

A Krasnoyarsk volunteer of the Student Games, Anastasia Yevgenyeva has also told us about her work in Almaty: "I was lucky to work in the Universiade Athletes Village press center. My main task was to communicate with the attachés of different foreign teams, arrange meetings and interviews. I also participated in making of the documentary film about the Universiade 2017. One of the most vivid memories I took home is the Opening ceremony of the Student Games. The ceremony lasted 2 hours 40 minutes and all this time it was impossible to take your eyes off the stage! Huge pieces of scenery, thousands of people, creating an atmosphere of fairy tales, they did everything to make millions of TV viewers remember the ceremony! At these moments, you truly realize the fact that volunteering is a goal in your life that you need to go to gradually. Then you can reach such heights and achieve such results."
