Recently, the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Region issued decree on the recognition of the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra as an object of cultural heritage of the Region. The decree was supported by Governor Alexander Uss.

The Chamber Orchestra is well-known as laureate of regional, all-Russian and international competitions, and has received multiple awards throughout the years. Professor Mikhail Benyumov, Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation, was at the origins of the creation of the orchestra. Originally the student orchestra of the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Arts, led by him since 1985, has been actively participating in the cultural life of the city. In May 1993, the orchestra was officially declared a municipal institution. It is 100% made up of Krasnoyarsk residents – the best graduates and students of the institute, many of whom are students of Mikhail Benyumov himself.

The Orchestra often performs with well-known domestic and foreign musicians. Collaborations connect the Chamber Orchestra with the best choirs and orchestras in the city. Participation in the Harbin Summer Festival in China, concerts of the Orchestra in such prestigious halls as the Music Palace in Valencia, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, the International House of Music in Moscow, as well as participation in world premieres and in many regional cultural events all serve as confirmations of the high status and creative potential of the team.

The Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra is the initiator and main organiser of a large-scale project - the annual international festival of chamber and orchestral music "Asia - Siberia - Europe". It is often joined by the largest musicians – conductors, soloists, chamber ensembles and orchestras –  of Eurasia.

— By decree of the President of Russia, 2023 has been declared the Year of the Teacher and Mentor. It seems symbolic to me that it was this year that the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra was given the status of an object of cultural heritage, because at the origins of its creation is an outstanding musician and talented teacher Mikhail Benyumov, and many members of the orchestra are students and followers of the Benyumov school, who have adopted and developed the experience of their teachers, – said Arkady Zinov, Minister of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region.
