The final concert of the Winter Surikov Art Festival dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the great countryman took place in the Small Concert Hall of the Philharmonic on the artist's birthday. The Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra conducted by Mikhail Benyumov performed works by Vasily Surikov's favorite composers Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven.

In the morning, the traditional flower-laying ceremony titled "Bow to Surikov" took place at the museum-estate at the monument of the artist. In addition to that, in honor of the anniversary of Vasily Surikov, Krasnoyarsk artists organised a theatrical performance with a reconstruction of everyday scenes from the 19th century all within the courtyard of his house. The guests of the estate became participants in the Cossack games popular during those times, such as wall on wall, tug of war, leapfrog.

— This year the Festival was completely different from all the previous ones. We changed the dates of the festival and the timeframe, tested new formats for presenting biographical material. The events of the festival brought together citizens and famous cultural figures, – said Lyubov Sakharova, Head of the Main Department of Culture.

During the 2 weeks of the Festival, dozens of performances, which were attended by more than 7,000 people, took place. Surikov's work was celebrated at exhibition and concert halls, churches, museums and railway stations of the city. Siberians became participants in art flash mobs in shopping malls and open public spaces of the city.

For the first time in 17 years of its existence, the Festival offered unique 'gastronomic excursions' named "Etudes with Taste". The participants were told about the places that served as sources of inspiration for Vasily Surikov's creativity, and at the same time offered to taste Surikov's favorite dishes. For example, when creating the painting "The Conquest of Siberia by Yermak", Vasily Ivanovich visited Khakassia and the north of the Krasnoyarsk Region. Accordingly, the guests of the gastronomic evening were offered to taste lamb tartare, pierogi with pine nuts and rum baba with bird cherry.

At the request of the residents, the Surikov Bus with fragments of the artist's paintings, which traveled around Krasnoyarsk during the Festival, will continue its work.​
