world-famous hockey player Alexander Semin from Krasnoyarsk gathered his friends on the ice of the Platinum Arena - those with whom he played at different times in Russian and foreign hockey clubs, as well as his teammates from the Russian national team, with whom he twice became the world champion. Krasnoyarsk welcomed Alexander Ovechkin, Pavel Datsyuk, Dmitry Orlov, Maxim Afinogenov, Danis Zaripov, Alexander Svitov, Alexander Guskov, the real hockey legends of our times.
This year, Alexander Semin decided to finish his professional career and continue working in the
Krasnoyarsk hockey club "Sokol" from which his sports journey had once begun. Later he played for "Tractor" and "Lada". Then there came his first World Championship in 2003. At the same time, Alexander Semin was drafted to the NHL. For 12 years he played in the NHL clubs Washington Capitals, Carolina, Montreal Canadiens.
In 2008, in the final game of the World Championship, when Russia was playing with Canada, Alexander Semin scored two important goals. The Russian team finally snatched victory from the Canadians and won the gold of the World Championship. In 2012, another victory at the World Championship: in the final match, the Russian team defeated the Slovakian team with a score of 6:2, and Alexander Semin and Zdeno Chara from Slovakia, who scored two goals each in the final, were recognized as the best players of the match.
In his address to the fans that gathered in the Platinum Arena, while recalling his career, Alexander Semin first of all said thanks to his parents. The match was attended by Alexander Semin's mother Tatyana Semina. Alexander's father passed away in 2020.
“Today I gathered my friends here, on this ice in my home city, for a reason. Today I want to say that I am finishing my career. I devoted 20 years of my life to professional hockey! Those were vibrant years. I played at the world championships, in the NHL, won the Gagarin Cup with Magnitogorsk. But now it's my time to leave, gracefully. The new generation has already grown and it's their time to play. I want to thank all the fans, friends, relatives, my beloved wife Alena, who gave me two wonderful sons. And most importantly, my parents. My father who brought me to hockey, has already passed away. But I believe he is now looking at me and he is proud of me. I want thank my mother, who walked this hockey path together with me. Mom, you are the main person on my team!” said Alexander Semin.
