Last weekend, the Krasnoyarsk "penguin population" was increased by 112 species. That is the number of paper penguins created by the students of 38 schools of Krasnoyarsk, that took part in the municipal stage of the origami olympiad.
Origami is an ancient art of paper folding that originated in ancient China. This art develops perseverance, accuracy, attentiveness. It is also a great hobby for brain development, which, similar to a construction set, actively develops your fine motor skills.
The olimpiad had a theoreticval part, where the kids demonstrated their knowledge of the "alphabet" of this ancient art, and a practical part, testing the ability to turn an ordinary sheet of paper into the indigenous inhabitants of Antarctica.
The children's work was assessed by a Japanese judge - a senior lecturer of the Japan Center of Siberian Federal University Yamato Seo.
