Lately, Krasnoyarsk has been hosting the pre-Olympic stage of training the Russian national teams in figure skating and snowboarding. The current European champions Mark Kondratyuk and the dance duo of Victoria Sinitsyna and Nikita Katsalapov have already arrived in the city, as well as bronze medalists of this year's European tournament Alexandra Boikova and Dmitri Kozlovsky. Andrey Mozalev, the silver medalist of the 2020 Youth Olympic Games, has also started training in Krasnoyarsk. Skaters train at the Crystal Arena Ice Palace, which hosted the ISU Grand Prix in September 2021 with the participation of athletes from 28 countries.

«The training in Krasnoyarsk is going very well for the athletes. There is an excellent sports base here: everything is thought out to the smallest detail, - said Sergei Kononykhin, Vice President of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia. – Sports facilities in Krasnoyarsk are among the best not only in Russia, but also in the world. We all feel the hospitality of the host country, and I am sure that our athletes feel at home here during the pre-Olympic training days. According to Sergei Kononykhin, the composition of the Russian team is very strong, and the athletes will prove their worth at the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing.

Roman Sotnikov, First Deputy Minister of Sports of the Krasnoyarsk Region, stressed that hosting large-scale sporting events, including the Pre-Olympic stage of training Russian national teams, contributes to the development of sports in the region.

— Our sports facilities and Krasnoyarsk as a whole are becoming a center for the development of winter sports, where both athletes and all members of sports delegations feel at home. We are doing our best to promote sports in the Region. After such events, the number of people wanting to go join sports schools increases dramatically. 

Figure skating competitions at the Olympic Games in the capital of China will be held from 4 to 20 February 2022.

The pre-Olympic stage of preparation in Krasnoyarsk is also carried out by athletes of the Russian snowboard cross team. The Sopka cluster of the Siberian Federal University was chosen as a training facility for the team.
