Siberian Federal University was given a high position in the UI GreenMetric world ranking – a rating determining how responsible universities are in relation to the environment.

Experts assess green sustainability in environmental, economic and social aspects. Taken into account are educational programmes on the topic of ecology and special programmes on environmental management and pollution prevention.

This year SibFU has risen in the ranking by 49 positions. The university ranked second in Russia and 73rd out of 956 in the world. Worth noting that the university has been included in the UI GreenMetric rating since 2016.

According to the SibFU Rector Maksim Rumyantsev, this year the compilers of the rating paid attention to the work of universities in the prevention of coronavirus. The experts evaluated how crisis centres, volunteers and scientists work. For example, last year, the university employees designed bactericidal air cleaners.

The Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region and President of SibFU Alexander Uss noted that the university took part in the Priority-2030 programme and the creation of the first climate research and educational centre Yenisey Siberia.
