On October 1, International Music Day, the II International Viktor Tretyakov Violin Competition officially ended.

Krasnoyarsk residents were offered a unique chance to listen to the best young violinists from different countries in one concert. The soloists performed with the Krasnoyarsk Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Lande. During the closing ceremony, the laureates were awarded and special prizes were presented by the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region, as well as the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk. Another special reward for the winners is the opportunity to perform with leading orchestras of Russia and abroad.

Maria Duenas (Spain / Austria) was the receiver of the Competition's Grand Prix. The violinist was also acknowledged by outstanding Russian musicians, including Valery Gergiev, Pavel Kogan, Denis Matsuev and Vladimir Spivakov. On October 8, she will play together with the Moscow Virtuosi State Chamber Orchestra at the Moscow State Philharmonic.

Maria Lundina (Russia) received a special prize from the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk, as well as the opportunity to perform with the Krasnoyarsk Academic Symphony Orchestra and give a series of concerts with the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra.

«It is pure bliss to realise that Krasnoyarsk becomes the centre for the discovery of new world talents! – Mayor Sergei Eremin addressed the audience of the final concert. – One of the members of the jury board said that in terms of its organisation level our competition is comparable to the famous Tchaikovsky Competition even. Such an assessment is invaluable to us! I am grateful to the main maestro of this event, our fellow countryman Viktor Viktorovich Tretyakov, to all the organisers and participants of the competition.»

Then the Mayor presented Viktor Tretyakov with the Commander Rezanov honourable medal. The medal was established this year, and those who promote Krasnoyarsk and make it proud all over the world receive such a high reward.

The Competition was taking place from September 20 to October 1. The music competition was attended by 18 violinists aged 16 to 32 years old from thirteen countries of the world. 6 participants reached the finale. The jury, headed by the president of the competition, People's Artist of the USSR Viktor Tretyakov, included outstanding violinists of our time, professors of leading music universities.
