Mayor Sergei Eremin took part in the grand opening of the International Arctic Economic Conference «The Arctic – the Power of Russia», which is beginning work this week.

During his visit to the forum, Mayor looked at the exhibition exposition, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, and later made a presentation at the plenary session.

— Krasnoyarsk is geographically remote from the Arctic, but being the capital of the region that stretches beyond the Arctic Circle, our city rightfully aspires to be a leading centre of scientific knowledge, competencies and technologies for the development of the Russian North, and our task is to expand the existing intellectual and technical base of Krasnoyarsk, to reveal the potential inherent in us and to look for opportunities to build cooperative ties both with the regions of Russia and the world.

Olga Epifanova, a member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, took part in the plenary part of the conference. The session was moderated by Rafael Shageev, Chairman of the Central Siberian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event's organiser.

Representatives of the chambers of commerce and industry of the countries of the Arctic region, the authorities of the Krasnoyarsk Region, the Chukotka Autonomous Region, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, commercial enterprises, etc take part in the forum events.

The conference mainly discusses time-relevant topics related to the future of the Northern and Arctic regions. In particular, this concerns the development of small and medium-sized businesses, transport infrastructure, energy and environmental safety, interstate trade and economic cooperation, and international cooperation.
