Recently, Krasnoyarsk school №6 hosted an online conference with French teachers. «Russia and France in modern conditions» became the main point of discussion. Participants in the dialogue of cultures were teachers of the French language from educational institutions, professors from Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical University, representatives of the public and teachers of the Pyrène lyceum in Pamiers, France.

Since 2018, the School №6 has been the base platform for the French language teachers' resource centre for methodological support. Thanks to new technologies, it became possible to gain experience of communicating with native speakers, as an hour-long dialogue was conducted fully in French. The conference participants presented their countries, talked about culture and traditions. The most topical theme of this year, distance education, was touched upon as well.

«This year has set new challenges for the teaching community – an online teaching methodology. I can say that for children who are studying French, these are just additional opportunities in the educational process. They can independently maintain communication with native speakers, together with teachers, conduct online seminars and conferences. This is a very productive form of interaction not only for students, but for teachers, too,» – said Lyudmila Pavlova, head of the CERLaF French resource centre.

The French side shared how nowadays children from primary and secondary school are studying full-time offline, whereas high school students alternate between online and offline classes. University students study remotely.

At the end of the discussions, it was decided to further encourage teachers practicing online conversations and conduct joint lessons with the participation of Russian and French students. Important to note is the fact that 285 people are studying French at the school №6 alone. The plans for 2021 are to implement a joint cultural project  titled «Teenager life in France and Russia». Also, French teachers in March intend to take part in the events dedicated to cooperation between Russia and France organised by the Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum of Local Lore.
