On May 13, Krasnoyarsk Mayor Sergei Eremin participated in a field meeting dedicated to the creation of the first municipal nursery garden. The garden is located within the boundaries of Krasnoyarsk, in the Ovinnoye area. The territory acquired special value for the city in 2018, when the land passed into the management of the municipal organisation UZS and the creation of the first city decorative nursery garden initially started.

The nursery area is roughly 34 hectares. The UZS specialists worked really hard on landscaping, planting trees and shrubs of various types.

As of now, the green fund of the first city nursery is 5 thousand trees of different species (birch, oak, maple, cedar, linden, larch, Manchurian walnut, ashberry, pine, bird cherry, apple tree) and 11 thousand shrubs (lilac, currant, cotoneaster, rose, guelder rose). All the plants are adapted to the urban environment and will easily withstand the replanting, since the nursery is located within the borders of Krasnoyarsk.

Mayor Sergei Eremin noted that the first Krasnoyarsk nursery garden will be the first step of the systematic beautification of the city:

— I am convinced that big ideas come to life thanks to small efforts. Two years ago, we set the task of creating our own green landscaping programme and our own landscaping standards. But you can’t do this without some sort of a basis, when the city does not have its own city nursery. Now this land is going to work for Krasnoyarsk, and specialists will have further understanding on the development of this large space – the green reserve of the city.
