About 300 foreign athletes are expected to join the competition. The organisation of the sports events in the city became possible following the results of the successful Winter Universiade-2019. The right for Krasnoyarsk to host these competitions was secured by agreements signed between Russian and international sports federations. The upcoming competitions are to be held at the facilities of the Student Games.

The World Junior Curling Championship will be held from February 15 to 22, 2020 in the Crystal Arena Ice Palace. Teams from Canada, the USA, Norway, Scotland, Switzerland, New Zealand, Korea and other countries are invited to come to Krasnoyarsk to compete. 20 teams in total: 10 male and 10 female ones. The mogulists will fight for the medals on March 7, whereas the acrobats on March 8. For the acrobats, the Krasnoyarsk stage will be the final one in the 2019/2020 season. It is in our city that Crystal Globes will be awarded to the leaders of the World Cup acrobatics standings. Representatives of traditionally strong mogul and acrobatics teams will visit Krasnoyarsk.

Athletes from Canada, China, Japan, France, Kazakhstan, Finland, the USA, Austria, Australia and other countries are expected. A total of about 200 freestyle athletes will represent about 20 states. The preparation and conduct of upcoming events will be handled by the autonomous non-profit organization called Directorate of sports and social events and projects. The institution is headed by Maxim Urazov, who previously led the organization of the Universiade-2019 in Krasnoyarsk and is also currently the general director of the Russian Student Sports Union.

«The Winter Universiade-2019 left us a monumental legacy and allowed us to loudly represent our region, — Maxim Urazov stated. — The success of the Student Games inspired many a sport federation, and immediately after the Winter Universiade, Krasnoyarsk was entrusted with a number of major international competitions. New facilities, modern infrastructure, as well as the knowledge and tremendous experience gained thanks to the Games, will now be used to organise important events in Krasnoyarsk. Preparations for the first international winter sports competitions after the Winter Universiade 2019 have already begun. Agreements have been signed, we are constantly in touch with colleagues from the federations, discussing the details of upcoming tournaments».
