50 Countries/50 Schools project participants, who had been supporting participating countries of the Winter Universiade 2019, visited Sopka Cluster and challenged themselves in Ski Orienteering.

The tour around the sports venue of the Winter Universiade 2019 was held by Kirill Veselov, a world champion in Ski Orienteering and an Ambassador of the Winter Universiade 2019. The schoolchildren were able to see ski courses, gyms and wax-cabins, where the athletes of the Winter Universiade 2019 prepared their sports equipment.

After the tour around Raduga Cluster, the schoolchildren took part in the workshop dedicated to one of the Winter Universiade 2019 disciplines, namely, Ski Orienteering. The participants of the workshop had to go through a sports maze on a specific route and check in at the checkpoints.

"We have a very proactive sports class," noted Anastasiia Lukasheva, a teacher at the state school No. 34. "When we were offered to take part in the 50 Countries/50 Schools project, we immediately agreed. At the Winter Universiade 2019, we visited Cross-Country Skiing, Freestyle and Figure Skating. During the competitions, we supported athletes from Thailand. The kids came back with such vivid emotions, sharing them with others. I noticed that they became more friendly and responsive. Such projects motivate our children, at the same time you have a chance to discover them from a new, interesting side. Even athletes were telling that our support helped them a lot."

Anna Radosteva, a project participant from the state gymnasium school No. 5, told about her impressions. "I liked all the participants whom we supported, but most of all the Moldovans. We made friends with them, walked around the city, went to Stolby, to the Universiade Park. They are very interesting people. After meeting them, I want to go to Moldova and Nepal. Today's workshop was unusual because we felt the same way athletes did."

Let us remind you that more than 850 schoolchildren from Krasnoyarsk participated in 50 Countries/50 Schools educational project. Young fans attended sports events of the Winter Universiade-2019 every day.

"I've seen the project participants at the stadiums," said Kirill Veselov, a world champion in Ski Orienteering and an Ambassador of the Winter Universiade 2019. "The project itself is wonderful. As an athlete, I know how uncomfortable you feel when you come to another country. However, the children showed our Siberian hospitality. So many athletes, who as they thought came to distant and cold Siberia, felt a bit of our warmth."
