Zheleznodorozhnyy district


​Zheleznodorozhnyy district is the youngest district of Krasnoyarsk.

The borders of Zheleznodorozhny y district extend from the Yenisei River railway bridge on West side of the main line to Krasnaya Zvezda Street, along the border of Refrigerating plant to the railway tracks of the Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Plant, The Kacha river and Gorky Street.  vokzal.JPG

Lado Ketskhoveli Street separates Zheleznodorozhnyy and Oktyabrsky districts; Gorky Street serves as the border with the Tsentralnyy district. Zheleznodorozhnyy district with a total area of 11, 0 square meters has a population of almost 100 000 people nowadays.

Zheleznodorozhnyy district is mainly situated in the historical center of Krasnoyarsk. This is the gate of the city - every day thousands of Krasnoyarsk residents and guests, who travel by train, begin their city exploration with one of the platforms of one of the most beautiful buildings - Railway Station Building. The reconstructed station and a large station square decorated with fountains are the tourist attractions and the pride of not only the district, but also of all Krasnoyarsk.

Zheleznodorozhnyy district has 132 streets - 32 of them are named after famous figures of public life, science, literature and art circles, such as Lomonosov, Lunacharskiy, Maerchak, Demian Bedny, Frunze and Rosa Luxemburg.

First European shops were settled in Zheleznodorozhnyy district, stretching from Decabrists Street to Robespierre Street. All these bright, modern sign boards and shop windows, beauty salons, fashion boutiques, cafes and restaurants are in harmony with the architectural ensemble, keeping the identity of the historical part of the city at the same time.

Zheleznodorozhnyy district is the center point of architectural and historical monuments of Krasnoyarsk. Everyone knows the Peter Krasikov’s house-museum, Organ Music Hall with its excellent acoustics and a strict interior (the Roman Catholic Church, built in 1911), memorial complex at Red Square, St. Luke Apostle Church on the territory of the Dorozhnaya Hospital.

There are a great number of places for leisure time activities in the district: people can walk over Menzhinskiy Boulevard, read books and play with their children in the Yuri Gagarin Park or in the square situated in Tolstoy Street; during the hot days residents and guests of the city have an opportunity to relax near the fountains, which are eight in the district. According to residents the most popular fountain is considered to be "Lunny Svet" which is located on the Kopylova Street. july.jpg

The district is also noted for sports popularization. Such sports complexes as "Siberyak" and "Energia" are situated here. The winners of international competitions such as A. Kovrigin, S. Putintseva, T. Ruyga, E. Ovchinnikov made their first steps to a great sport here. In addition to this, a large and modern fitness center "Eksilent” is also located in Zheleznodorozhnyy district.

13 cultural institutions located in Zheleznodorozhnyy district provide people with an opportunity to listen to the music, to watch a play or just relax. For instance, the Musical Theatre, which has already celebrated its 50th anniversary, is still loved and attended by the public, as well as the Railway Culture Palace - one of the oldest cultural institutions in the city. The palace was opened in 1936, and keeps to stay one of the most successful and popular leisure facilities for citizens, preserving the best traditions.
