Sovietskiy district was formed due to the building of the aluminum industry enterprises consisting of the Belogorskiy nepheline mine, Achinskiy aluminous plant, Krasnoyarsk Aluminum and Metallurgic plants.

Officially the district was formed on April 27, 1969 with the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR "About the formation of Sovietskiy district in Krasnoyarsk." It was separated from the Tsentralny district and was located in the northwestern part of the city, covering an area of 115 square kilometers. More than 67,000 people lived there. The number of the large industrial enterprises was 15 at that time.

Today the territory of Sovetskiy District - the largest district of Krasnoyarsk - is 92 sq.km. It borders with Tsentralny district on the left bank of Kacha River. Further to the north the boundary passes on the Shakhterov Street. It includes such micro districts as Solnechnyy, Zelenaya Roscha, Innokentyevskiy, Severny, Vzletka and the village of Peschanka.
Sovetskiy district today is the beautiful squares, a great number of flowers, beautiful houses, wide roads and, of course, its inhabitants: active, creative people who truly love their district and want to live, work and build a family here. They associate this part of the city with prospects and prestige. foto2.jpg

It is really a great merit of the authorities, when the residents consider Sovietskiy district to be their native home. It is a recognition that people can create their fate here in comfort, coziness and prosperity. The district appreciates everyone who chose this part of the city for living. There are more than 317 thousands of people, who live in Sovietskiy district. Young people represent almost one-fourth of that number. Younger generation is provided with wonderful educational facilities: 28 secondary schools, 53 preschools, military school, Mariinsky gymnasium, 17 higher and secondary educational institutions.

A new business center Krasnoyarsk-City will be created in Sovetskiy district soon, in the place, where the most daring architectural designs can be realized. The architectural appearance of Sovietskiy district shows us Krasnoyarsk of 21st century. The architecture demonstrates the main feature of the district – it is directed up, at the height. It breaks the boundaries of time and gives the reason to refer the Region’s capital to the modern metropolis.

Enterprises of the district produce primary aluminum and aluminum alloys, wheels for cars, precast concrete and ready-mixed concrete, millworks, toys and Christmas-tree decorations, sausages and other consumer goods. The amount of industrial output in the city is about 50%.

The great work is done for the creation of additional jobs. The great attention is paid to the development of small and medium-sized business. Their turnover is 20% of the total turnover of the industrial production, retail trade, catering and construction.

Sovietskiy district is considered to be young, unique, dynamic, proudly bearing the title of "the most modern" and "forward-looking" district nowadays, connected with its native city.
