Oktyabrskiy district - western gate of Krasnoyarsk 
On June 25, 1938 the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee passed a resolution about the formation of Kaganovicheskiy district in Krasnoyarsk region. Afterwards in 1957 it was renamed to Oktyabrskiy district. In November 1979 Oktyabrskiy district was divided into two areas, in result of what the Zheleznodorozhnyy district was separated.
Oktyabrskiy district is a modern, developing district nowadays with a good infrastructure, which appropriate to the urban areas.
The territory of Oktyabrskiy district has been built-up rapidly in recent years. It ranks second after Sovetskiy district for the speed of construction and for the number of implemented housing. There is a long-term plan for construction of high-rise buildings in Botanicheskiy and Studentcheskiy microdistricts. Oktyabrskiy district is the most perspective area within territorial and ecological zoning for placement of individual residential buildings.

The population of the district is 164 thousands of people nowadays.
Arrangement of good conditions for a comfortable living is the main issue of the district. Some measures were taken as fro making pedestrian traffic and road traffic safe for the residents, as for the reconstruction and construction of new traffic lights, providing safe crossing across the railroad tracks, setting of pedestrian crossing signs.
Oktyabrskiy district has been changed considerably in recent years. There are new leisure places for the residents ("Tsvetochniye Chasy" Square, Miroshnichenko Street Square, Botanicheskiy Boulevard Square). The construction of the fourth bridge across the Yenisei River is considered to be the most important project not only for the district, but for the whole city of Krasnoyarsk. This construction will relieve the transport infrastructure in the city.

Oktyabrskiy district has its own specific and distinctive features. The greater part of the regional medical facilities is located here. In addition to this, the largest winter sport base near the campus of Akademgorodok is situated here, where the city residents participate in skiing holiday "Startuyut Vse!» each year. Extensive green suburban area allows people of the district to rest in an ecologically friendly environment.
Oktyabrskiy district is also noted for the number of such institutions as KSC SB RAS and Siberian Federal University, which are the pride not only of the district, but also of Krasnoyarsk and Krasnoyarsk Kray.
It is considered, that Oktyabrskiy district is for youth. There are more than 60,000 of students and young workers live here. Aged 14 - 30 years, they amount to 41% of the total population of the district. There are three university, six specialized secondary schools, three vocational schools, three lyceums and 21 schools in Oktyabrskiy district.
